In a goodwill message to mark the occasion, Governor Otti commended women across Abia State for their dedication, resilience, and remarkable roles in the development of families, communities, and the broader society.

According to the governor, the annual celebration provides an opportunity to acknowledge the immense value women bring to every sphere of life.

Governor Otti noted that women have consistently demonstrated exceptional strength, leadership, and compassion, making them indispensable partners in nation-building.

“It is always a thing of joy to seize every opportunity to celebrate our women whose immense contributions continue to shape society and impact humanity positively,” the governor said.

He emphasized that the Abia State government recognizes the unique role women play and therefore gives them a pride of place in governance and development initiatives.

The governor further highlighted his administration’s commitment to women’s empowerment, pointing out that several women have been appointed into strategic positions within the state government.

According to him, ministries such as the Abia State Ministry of Women Affairs and the Abia State Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection are led by capable women who are working tirelessly to promote the welfare and advancement of women across the state.

Governor Otti expressed satisfaction that women appointed into leadership positions have continued to justify the confidence placed in them by his administration through their dedication and performance.

Encouraging women across the state to take advantage of the celebration, the Abia Chief Executive urged them to renew their determination and continue striving for excellence in all fields.

He noted that the International Women’s Day celebration should inspire women to expand their horizons, develop their talents, and contribute even more meaningfully to the growth and progress of the state.

Governor Otti also assured that his administration will continue to create opportunities that enable women to thrive and play active roles in governance and development.

The governor, on behalf of the First Lady of Abia State, Lady Priscilla Chidinma Otti, as well as the government and people of the state, congratulated women across Abia and prayed for continued strength, inspiration, and greater achievements in their various endeavors.

The message was conveyed in a statement signed by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, on March 8, 2026.
