Fresh political attacks are targeting Governor Alex Otti, but Emeka Kalu has responded with a strong message. What’s really behind the noise? Read full story.
As political tension rises ahead of the 2027 elections, Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has continued to demonstrate uncommon resolve and focus, refusing to be distracted by what many now describe as coordinated political attacks sponsored by desperate power seekers.
In a strongly worded statement, Chief Dr. Emeka Kalu, Chairman of ECK Foundation, declared that the sustained media assault on Governor Otti is a calculated attempt by unscrupulous elements to derail the administration’s people-oriented reforms and regain lost relevance in Abia State.
According to Kalu, the attacks are not accidental but a well-scripted strategy aimed at undermining the confidence of Abians in an administration that has restored hope, transparency and fiscal discipline in less than two years.
Despite the growing noise, Governor Otti has remained focused on delivering measurable dividends of democracy across critical sectors, including road infrastructure, public finance reforms, civil service restructuring, healthcare revitalization and education. Residents across Abia State say the difference between past administrations and the present one is visible.
“Otti is not governing by propaganda. He is governing by results,” Kalu said, adding that the governor’s calm response to provocation reflects maturity and confidence in his mandate.
The recent comments credited to Dr. Bashir Lamido, leader of the Arewa Summit International and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing Governor Otti of insincerity, have drawn widespread criticism.
Political watchers question what business a northern political actor has interfering in Abia’s internal political affairs, especially when he holds no mandate from the people of the state. Kalu described Lamido’s intervention as reckless, unnecessary and politically motivated.
Insiders revealed that the attacks may have followed failed attempts to pressure Governor Otti into joining the APC, a move reportedly designed to leverage his popularity to revive the party’s fortunes in Abia.
When those entreaties were rejected, sources say the strategy shifted to public attacks, insults and media propaganda.
Chief Emeka Kalu warned that Abia is no longer a playground for political mercenaries, stressing that the people will decide their future through the ballot, not through intimidation or media manipulation.
“Nothing can divert Governor Otti from delivering democratic dividends to Ndi Abia. His re-election in 2027 remains unstoppable because the people are seeing results,” Kalu stated.
He challenged critics to test their popularity at the polls rather than attacking a performing governor from afar.
As Abia’s political landscape continues to shift, many residents believe the attacks are clear evidence of panic among old political forces threatened by a new order.
For Ndi Abia, the verdict is clear: Dr. Alex Otti remains the positive change they prayed for, and no amount of noise can reverse that reality.
