The 2025 Isuikwuato Nwanneukwu Cultural Football Competition officially kicked off on December 6, 2025, marking the beginning of a series of exciting matches leading to the grand Isuikwuato Nwanneukwu Cultural Festival scheduled for December 23rd and 24th, 2025 at the Isuikwuato High School Field.
The symbolic commencement was graced by Chief Engr. Charles Omseie Ojukwu (Obioha Isuikwuato), former Executive Chairman of Isuikwuato LGA, who is also set to serve as the “Father of the Day” during the main festival. Chief Ojukwu expressed gratitude for the honour bestowed upon him, noting that the football competition represents more than just sport.
“This football competition is not only about winning or losing,” he said. “Its greatest achievement is fostering unity, togetherness, and joy among the people of Isuikwuato. Let all participants play with fairness, friendliness, and celebrate the heritage that binds us under one umbrella, one heritage, and one destiny.”
The first match of the competition saw Imenyi clash with Isuamawa, igniting excitement and friendly rivalry among the various clans. Other communities are set to take their turn in the days ahead, showcasing not just football skills, but also the spirit of communal harmony.
Organizers emphasized that the football competition is part of a broader effort to promote culture, community cohesion, and youth engagement in the lead-up to the main festival.
