Manchester United saw ‘surprise’ Conor Gallagher approach snubbed, Toni Kroos questions Alexander Isak’s Liverpool fee – Euro Transfer News
Thursday’s round-up of the biggest transfer stories on the continent includes claims that Manchester United made a late approach to sign Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid. Elsewhere, former Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Germany star Toni Kroos has questioned the £125 million fee Liverpool paid to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, while Endrick has been linked with a Real Madrid exit.
Man Utd saw Gallagher loan proposal rejected
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United saw an attempt to sign Conor Gallagher on loan rejected in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Gallagher, who signed for Atletico Madrid from Chelsea last summer, had been linked with a loan return to Crystal Palace, while Romano claims United were also interested.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “In the last 48 hours of the summer transfer window, Manchester United tried to sign Conor Gallagher.
“Man Utd considered the possibility of going for Gallagher. It was not possible because Man Utd wanted to sign Gallagher on loan while Atletico Madrid had already rejected a loan approach from Crystal Palace.
“The response from Atletico to Man Utd’s proposal was ‘no chance’”.
Kroos: ‘Half of our listeners have never heard of Isak’
Speaking on his Einfach mal Luppen podcast, former Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder Toni Kroos insisted that Liverpool may have overpaid for Alexander Isak.
The Reds signed Isak from Newcastle United for a British record £125 million transfer fee.
“I trust our listeners, but I’d say that roughly half of them have never even heard of Isak,” Kroos remarked. “Judge for yourselves. Seriously. Yes. It’s a lot of money, without a doubt.”
Juventus interested in Real Madrid’s Endrick
According to Spanish publication Sport, Endrick, who has been out since May, may be available in the January window as he looks to increase his game-time ahead of the World Cup next summer.
The Brazilian, who won’t be available until October, has reportedly attracted interest from Italian giants Juventus as well as Real Sociedad and Getafe.
Meanwhile, Valencia expressed an interest in Endrick this summer, and will reportedly return in January to secure the 19-year-old on loan.
Laporte’s Athletic return rejected by La Liga
Aymeric Laporte’s hopes of returning to Athletic Club were dashed after the club confirmed they had failed to process his transfer on time.
The Spain international came through the Athletic academy and went on to play 222 games for the club, before moving to Manchester City and Al Nassr.
In a statement, FIFA broke down the reasons Laporte’s move could not be processed, while Athletic subsequently confirmed that the potential transfer was “null and void”.
This means that a new agreement will have to be made if the player is to eventually complete the move in the January window.
