By All Facts Newspaper – 4th August 2025

Hon. Amobi Ogah, Member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has congratulated Nigeria’s D’Tigress following their sensational victory at the 2025 AfroBasket Women’s Championship, where they claimed their fifth consecutive title.

Nigeria’s women’s basketball team stunned Africa yet again after defeating Mali 78–64 in a pulsating final, cementing their status as the undisputed Queens of African basketball.

With this win, D’Tigress have now lifted the AfroBasket Women’s trophy five times in a row — an unprecedented achievement in the history of African basketball — and seven times overall. Even more remarkable, they have not lost a single match in the competition since 2015, racking up 29 straight wins.

In a statement released shortly after the final whistle, Hon. Amobi Ogah hailed the D’Tigress for their consistency, resilience, and ability to inspire a nation.

“This victory is a testament to what determination, teamwork, and patriotism can achieve. The D’Tigress have once again brought glory to our country and have shown the world that Nigerian women can dominate at the highest levels of sport,” Ogah said.

He described the team’s triumph as “a source of national unity” and urged Nigerian youths to draw inspiration from the athletes’ dedication and discipline.

Ogah emphasized that the team’s dominance is not just a win for sports lovers but a symbol of excellence in all fields.

“For the past decade, D’Tigress have redefined African basketball and set a standard that every sports team — male or female — should aspire to meet. They are not just champions on the court; they are champions of the Nigerian spirit,” he added.
