Wike Speaks On ADC Coalition Challenging Tinubu’s Second Term Ambition

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has launched a blistering attack on the newly formed opposition coalition that took over the African Democratic Congress (ADC), branding them as a gang of “failed and expired politicians” desperate to remain relevant.

All Facts News reports that Wike, while speaking at his monthly chat, dismissed the coalition’s promise to “rescue Nigeria,” questioning the credibility and performance of its prominent members while in public office.

Taking aim at former Senate President, David Mark, Wike criticised his track record and described his leadership as underwhelming.

Wike said, “I heard David Mark say they want to rescue Nigeria. That Nigerians are not happy. But the man was Senate President for eight years, and Nigerians were happy? There was no single project in Otukpo. Not one. He was flying with a helicopter to Otukpo

“Nigerians were not angry then, but they are angry now? Under his leadership, he couldn’t even deliver his own constituency.”

Wike further ridiculed Mark over his daughter’s defection and electoral victory under the APC, claiming it exposed his political weakness.

Wike didn’t spare other coalition leaders, including former ministers Rotimi Amaechi, Hadi Sirika, and Abubakar Malami.

He said, “Amaechi was minister. He took Chinese loans and made Nigeria so indebted to China. So, Nigerians were happy then?

“I saw Sirika. What happened to Air Nigeria? Nigerians were happy then?

“I read what Malami wrote. It was so shameful. He was AGF. What did he do? What was his contribution to resolving the security challenges?”

The FCT Minister also dismissed former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal’s political influence, querying his impact both as Speaker of the House of Representatives and as a two-term governor.

“Tambuwal was Speaker for four years. What did he do to make Nigerians not be angry? He was governor for eight years. What did he do? What kind of politics are we playing?” he asked.

Wike also took a jab at former Sports, Minister Bolaji Abdullahi, saying his move to ADC was not based on ideology but rather due to internal political friction.

“He only moved to the ADC because he has fallen out with his godfather, Senator Bukola Saraki,” he said.

Despite his criticism of the coalition, Wike reiterated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remained the only party capable of mounting a serious challenge to President Bola Tinubu, provided it puts its internal affairs in order.
