“Food Captain” is an initiative that was conceived by Amarairo, a native of Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku during the COVID-19 period mainly to feed people on the street. It has been hosting in Abuja, but was flagged off in Abia state on Monday, for south east.
Speaking to ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER, Amarairo attributed her driving force to feed people on the streets and motherless babies homes on her love to give to people and her childhood experiences.
“Food Captain is an initiative that I initiated during the COVID -19 period. I thought of how I can assist the people as a food lover, that was how I initiated the ‘Food Captain’.
“I love giving a lot; that is just my personality right from childhood, I love giving;anything that can make people happy” she stated.
Speaking on the affiliation of the feeding initiative with Dr. Alex Otti, the governor-elect, Amarairo noted that it was not for political appointment rather a form of support for Otti whom she expressed optimism that he can manage the resources of Abia state with his banking experiences and also ensure that the people of Isiama Afaraukwu feels the presence of his administration.
“we are targeting about N1000 persons on the street of Umuahia to support those that cannot feed themselves with our little”.
“we bought out the initiative which will support the youths and the less privileged and today, we are starting with the less privileged.
“we are embracing this new government because we believe in Dr Alex Otti who has managed the finances of people having worked in a bank without any criminal cases. We want a change in my village and the people of Abia state”.
“My aim is to see the incoming government drawn close to my people. I want the government to understand that my people needs help. Am supporting this government so that they will look towards our direction not because of any political appointment” she added.
Earlier while receiving the food items, a representative of the Agape Charity home for children in Avom, Ubakala in Umuahia south Local Government Area, appreciated Lilian Ujunwa Amarairo and her supporters for their kind gesture and prayed that God would enrich them the more.
She noted that there won’t be insecurity or any form of criminality if other people would cue behind such initiative to reach out to the less privileged.
The children prayed that God should enrich the facilitators of the feeding initiative and also Dr Alex Otti.
‘Food Captain’ also visited the Daughter of Mary Mother of Mercy (DMMM) Compassion Home, Ahiaeke, Umuahia.
The day 2 of the reachout “Food Captain Feeding The Street For Otti” would hold on Tuesday with focus being the feeding of over one thousand people on the street.
