Nnewi, Anambra State – In a gruesome and heart-wrenching incident, three siblings—Chikaima Daviana Ejezie (9), Chimziterem Dominica (7), and Chimdilim David Ejezie (5)—were brutally murdered and stuffed inside a deep freezer in their home at Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area, Anambra State. The yet-to-be-identified killers carried out the heinous crime while their mother, Mrs. Chikazor Ejezie, a nurse and lecturer, was away for an examination.
How the Tragic Discovery Unfolded
According to reports, Mrs. Ejezie returned home to find her apartment unusually open, raising immediate suspicion. She searched frantically for her children both inside and outside the house but found no sign of them. It was during her desperate search that she decided to check the deep freezer, thinking they might have left their food uneaten before stepping out. To her horror, she discovered the lifeless bodies of her children tightly packed inside.
The father of the murdered siblings, Mr. Udobi Ejezie, who was in Irrua, Edo State, at the time of the incident, recounted how he received a distress call from his devastated wife, informing him of the tragedy.
“In the house, a bungalow where we live, we have two other tenants and the landlord. The children were eating when the assailants stormed the house in the afternoon because we found food in plates, likely to have been forcefully abandoned by the kids,” Mr. Ejezie narrated.
Unanswered Questions and Police Investigation
The tragic incident has left the Nnewichi community in shock, with many questioning the motive behind the brutal killing of innocent children. The corpses of the victims have been deposited at a morgue, and the case has been reported to the Central Police Station (CPS) in Nnewi.
Efforts to get an official statement from the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, have so far been unsuccessful, as he has yet to respond to calls and messages regarding the case.
Meanwhile, sources revealed that Mrs. Ejezie collapsed in distress as the bodies of her children were being removed from the deep freezer for transportation to the mortuary.
The gruesome nature of this incident has sparked fears in the area, with residents calling for swift police action to unravel those behind the senseless killings and bring them to justice.
Community in Mourning
The killing of the Ejezie siblings has thrown the entire Nnewi community into mourning. Many residents have taken to social media to express their grief and demand justice.
“We are living in very dangerous times. How can someone kill three little children and dump them in a freezer? The killers must be caught and punished severely,” a community leader lamented.
