A shocking discovery in Anambra State has left many stunned as security operatives uncovered 30 graves and a shrine in La Cruise Hotel, Oba. The government has since demolished the building, vowing to eliminate criminality in the state.
Security operatives in Anambra State have made a shocking discovery at a hotel in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area. Acting on a resident’s tip-off, the authorities uncovered over 30 graves and a shrine located on the last floor of the hotel.
The property, registered as Udoka Golden Point Hotel and Suites but popularly known as La Cruise Hotel, has sent shockwaves across the state.
The shocking discovery was confirmed through a post on the Anambra State government’s official handle on X (formerly Twitter). The post detailed that the graves were “well-partitioned” and accompanied by a shrine.
Deputy Governor Onyeka Ibezim led a team of security operatives to the site over the weekend, where the building was promptly demolished. Addressing journalists during the operation, Ibezim reiterated the state government’s zero tolerance for criminality.
“Our people must go about their businesses without fear. The state has zero tolerance for all forms of criminality,” the deputy governor stated.
Videos showing the graves and the hotel’s demolition have gone viral on social media, igniting widespread outrage and raising questions about the security situation in the area.
Residents expressed shock and disbelief, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the activities that took place at the hotel.
This is not the first such revelation in Anambra State. In November 2023, a mass grave site was uncovered by a committee set up by Governor Chukwuma Soludo. The committee was tasked with addressing issues of secessionist agitations, insecurity, and other challenges affecting the state.
The discovery at La Cruise Hotel underscores the ongoing efforts of the state government to rid Anambra of criminal elements and restore public confidence in security operations.
The authorities have vowed to continue investigations to apprehend those responsible for the heinous activities linked to the hotel.
