Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Hon. Chijioke Chukwu to the NWDC board, representing the Southeast. He highlights Tinubu’s vision for equitable development and acknowledges Benjamin Kalu’s pivotal role in achieving this milestone.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent appointment of Hon. Chijioke Chukwu to the Northwest Development Commission (NWDC) board has been hailed as a masterstroke in advancing regional equity and development. Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha, a former Minority Whip of the Abia State House of Assembly, described the appointment as a clear demonstration of Tinubu’s inclusive leadership and commitment to ensuring representation for all geopolitical zones.
In a press statement, Ukoha lauded Tinubu’s foresight, noting that the choice of Chijioke Chukwu, a former Minority Leader in the Abia State Assembly, underscores the President’s dedication to tapping experienced leaders to drive national development.
“This appointment reflects a deliberate effort by Mr. President to bring governance closer to the people,” Ukoha said. “It signals a renewed focus on ensuring that all regions of Nigeria are integral to our development agenda.”
Ukoha also commended the role played by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, in facilitating the appointment. According to Ukoha, Kalu’s support exemplifies the importance of collaborative leadership in advancing the Southeast’s interests.
Highlighting President Tinubu’s broader governance strategy, Ukoha emphasized the administration’s efforts to establish and strengthen development commissions for various geopolitical zones, ensuring sustainable progress in neglected areas.
“By reviving and empowering institutions like the NWDC, Tinubu is laying the groundwork for inclusive growth,” Ukoha said. “His leadership is revitalizing moribund sectors, creating opportunities for ordinary Nigerians, particularly those in underserved communities.”
Ukoha acknowledged Tinubu’s achievements in infrastructure, education, and economic reforms, attributing these successes to the President’s extensive experience and hands-on approach to governance.
Hon. Chijioke Chukwu’s appointment is seen as a significant boost for the Southeast region. Ukoha noted that Chukwu’s wealth of experience as a legislative leader equips him to effectively represent the Southeast’s interests on the NWDC board.
“With Hon. Chijioke Chukwu on the board, the Southeast can look forward to stronger advocacy for developmental projects, ensuring our region remains a key focus of national progress,” Ukoha stated.
Ukoha concluded his statement with a call for unity among leaders to support the President’s vision. He also prayed for wisdom and guidance for Tinubu as he continues to steer Nigeria toward greater prosperity.
“President Tinubu’s inclusive governance approach is a model for national leadership. His efforts to bridge the development gap across regions should inspire all leaders to contribute positively to nation-building,” Ukoha added.
