On October 8, 2024, the Abia State Orientation Agency (ABSOA) held a significant town hall meeting at the Gen. Aguiyi Ironsi Conference Hall. Acting Director General Urena Abazie welcomed distinguished guests and government functionaries, marking the occasion as an essential step toward a safer and more responsible Abia.
The town hall meeting, themed “Abia’s Future Begins with Safe Roads; Stop Substance Abuse and Street Trading,” aimed to engage various community segments, including vehicle owners, pedestrians, youth, and market traders. This initiative aligns with Governor Alex Otti’s commitment to infrastructural development and public safety across the state.
Abazie highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to improve Abia’s infrastructure, including the construction of long-neglected roads and the recent declaration of a state of emergency on waste management. He emphasized that while the government lays the groundwork for a better Abia, the community’s role in upholding good behaviors is equally crucial.
The ABSOA, in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), is spearheading a campaign to educate citizens on adhering to road safety rules and the dangers of substance abuse.
