An elderly woman was seen carrying an empty pot during the hunger protest in Ikeja, the Lagos state capital.

The woman’s action comes 24 hours after Nigeria’s Senate President, Godswill Akpabio declared that ”while they are protesting, we will be eating.”

The protesters who marched for more than seven kilometres to Ojota, attracted a large crowd who joined them in the street procession.

The woman’s empty pot symbolizes the plight of an average Nigerian struggling with high inflation, unemployment, and economic instability.

The demonstration in Lagos was one of many held nationwide, with citizens demanding better governance and accountability from the country’s leaders.

The protests have gained momentum in several parts of the country, in the last few hours.
