Manchester United’s interim coach, Ralf Rangnick has revealed how the officiating referee made his side lose the Champions League round of 16 clash against Atletico Madrid.
Diego Simone-led Atletico stamped out United’s quarter finals chances with a 2-1 aggregate win at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils had to settle for a early exit after a first half header by Renan Lodi secured the Mattress makers a Champions League quarter finals slot.
Embittered by the turn-out of events, the German coach has criticized Slovenian referee, Slavko Vincic for his team’s defeat.
The 63-year-old said Vincic’s refereeing simply made it ”easy” for their rivals to edge them out.
Ragnick also accused Vincic of giving the Spanish side enough room to display ”their time-wasting antics”, making things difficult for his boys.
“He (the referee) made it pretty easy for Atletico to do their time-wasting antics and it didn’t make it any easier for us.
That’s how they have played for the last 10 years, they always play like that. I was not surprised.”
