How Female Abuja Beggar Got N500k, $100 – FCTA Refutes Speculations
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has cleared a 48 year old beggar, Hadiza Ibrahim of allegedly indulging in criminal activities to acquire money.
The beggar went viral last week after she was caught with the sum of N500,000 and a $100 note at a junction along Ademola Adetokunbo crescent in Wise II Area of Abuja.
There had been speculations that the beggar stole the money, while others assumed that she exchanges money given to her by sympathizers with ritualists who give her more money.
Announcing the result of their profiling after Ibrahim’s arrest, officials of the Social Development Secretariat (SDS) in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), said the amount found on the beggar was accumulated money from her savings.
The Acting Director, SDS, Malam Sani Amar, said;
Within our little knowledge and experience in discharging our duty, with the assistance of security personnel attached to us, we understand that Hadiza was not into any criminal activity and if you look at the money found in her possession, it was accumulated over time”.
