The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will retire to Kaduna after his tenure elapses in 2023.
El-Rufai made this known on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 while briefing State House Correspondents after he met with the President at the Villa.
The governor affirmed that the President is originally from Katsina state, however, he is a Kaduna-based citizen as he spent most of his life in Kaduna.
“Mr President has been invited to come and commission some of our projects. He will spend two to three days in Kaduna commissioning projects in Kafanchan, Kaduna and Zaria.
“As you know, the President is a Kaduna-based citizen. He is originally from Katsina state, but he spent most of his life in Kaduna. And he’s retiring to Kaduna.
“We hope that he will be happy with what we have done and he will be proud of what we have done as an APC government, and we appreciate all the support that he has given us to enable us to do this” El-Rufai said.
This is contrary to the president’s revelation on the occasion of his 79th birthday, that he plans to return to his farm in Daura after handing over power.
“I look forward to 2023 when I finish my tenure, to go home to take charge of my farm. Between now and that time, I will do the best that is possible to advance the interest of the nation and its people, and carry out my duties as prescribed by the Constitution” Buhari had written.
