Femi Fani-Kayode, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that he wasn’t arrested, rather he honored the invitation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Fani-Kayode was on Tuesday, November 30 re-arrested by the anti garft agency within the premises of the Federal High Court Ikoyi Lagos State.
FFK was in court for his trial bordering on alleged money laundering to the tune of N4.6bn. The former aviation minister is standing a 17 count charge alongside; an ex-minister of state for finance, Nenadi Usman, Ex Chairman, Association of Local Government Areas in Nigera (ALGON), Yusuf Danjuma and a company, Joint-Trust Dimensions Nig. LTD.
Justice Daniel Osaigor of the Ikoyi High Court, on Tuesday, adjourned the matter till January 24, 2022.
FFK was moved from the court to the EFCC custody after a prosecutor approached him as he walked out of the court room.
Reacting to his arrest; Femi Fani Kayode wrote;
“I was invited to the EFCC again today. Once again, despite media reports, I was NOT arrested but merely invited and I honored the invitation. I got there at 11.00am and I left 9.00pm. Thanks be to God!”
This “invitation” is coming less than a week he was arrested by the anti graft agency.
