The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), have issued a three weeks ultimatum to the Federal Government to meet their demands.

This was resolved at a meeting by the Senior Staff Association of Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities in Abuja, on Monday, November 15.

Recall that the Federal Government in 2020, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the academic unions, promising to meet their demands ranging from payment of earned allowances, introduction of the University Transparency, Accountability Solution (UTAS) platform for University workers, payment of revitalization fund for Universities among others.

Speaking to newsmen at the University of Abuja, the ASUU National President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, said the union has been patient enough and will be left with no other option than to embark on a strike action if the FG fails to meet their demands at the 3 weeks deadline.

“We are giving the Federal Government a three week ultimatum, if after three weeks they don’t meet our demands, we will be going on strike.

“We believe we have tried enough by giving them enough time” Osodeke fumed.
