The fatal accident happened at Sapele Road by Ogbelaka Junction, during rush hour, at about 7:30AM.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck driver who was conveying sand, lost control of the vehicle’s brake and suddenly rammed into the moving commercial bus, killing the 9 passengers on the spot, before hitting another truck towards the Government Reservation Area (GRA).
Remains of the accident victims have been deposited in a morgue while injured passengers were rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the nearby Edo Specialist Hospital in Benin.
