The Chairman, Abia State Chapter of Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Ceekay Igara has been impeached for alleged embezzlement, high handedness, misappropriation of funds, contravening IPAC Code of Conduct, among others.
This was according to a Communique issued by IPAC after a General Assembly meeting and made available to ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER.
Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), is an umbrella body of various Registered political parties in a state.
IPAC reached the decision of impeachment after it reviewed the performance of Igara led administration which came onboard, January, 6, 2021.
Igara of the Labour Party (LP), has however been replaced as his deputy, Comrade Victor Umunna of Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has been sworn in as the new chairman of IPAC Abia state chapter.
The General Assembly also suspended the secretary, Mr Tony Orji of Action Alliance and the organizing and welfare officer ,Mr Uzodinma Nwoko of Young progressive Party from their respective Offices for a period of six Months.
The communiqué titled:
Communique of the general Assembly meeting of the inter party Advisory council (IPAC) Abia state chapter held on Tuesday 24th, August, 202, read;
In line with the statutory provisions in the IPAC code of conduct, the General Assembly of the organization reviewed the performance of the Ceekay Igara led administration elected on January, 6th 2021.
In the light of various developments such as banditry, kidnapping as week as general insecurity in the state, the general Assembly frowned at the total absence of leadership , inordinate ambitions of the chairman Ceekay Igara , otherwise seen as self aggrandizement, tyranny, disloyalty, and outright undermining the goals and visions of the inter party Advisory Council, Abia State chapter.
The IPAC Chairman, Ceekay Igara through his actions and inactions, contravened the IPAC code of conduct therein, the General Assembly Leveraging on its powers unanimously pass vote of no confidence on the chairman Ceekay Igara on the following offences.
- Embezzlement of funds
2.Fraudulent activities…
3 .High handedness .
- Inability to call for general Assembly meeting after 5 months of election as against the stipulated three months time frame.
5.Assignment of other executive roles to himself, thereby undermining the functions of other elected officers.
- Mismanagement and misappropriation of IPAC funds.
Having observed the above offences committed by Ceekay Igara, the Chairman, as contravened the provision of IPAC code of conduct, the general Assembly resolved as follows;
- That the general Assembly hereby impeach the chairman Ceekay Igara and swear in his deputy Comrade Victor Umunna of Allied Peoples Movement (APM) as the new chairman of IPAC Abia state chapter
- That the General Assembly has suspended the secretary, Mr Tony Orji of Action Alliance and the organizing and welfare officer ,Mr Uzodinma Nwoko of Young progressive Party from their respective Offices for period of six Months.
- That the general Assembly rededicate herself to the primary role of IPAC to consolidate and strengthen democracy, free, fair political culture and ensure good governance in Abia.
