The lawmaker representing Shinkafi Constituency in the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Muhammad Ahmad, has been killed by bandits.

This is coming hours after he defected with Governor Bello Matawalle to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Director-General, Press and Public Affairs, of the Assembly, Malam Mustafa Jafaru-Kaura made this known to journalists in Gusau.

According to Jafaru-Kaura the gun wielding bandits attacked the lawmaker on Tuesday, June 29, at Sheme in Kastina State.

Ahmad was reportedly on his way to Kano state with his sick son whom he was taking to a hospital.

The bandits also kidnapped the lawmaker’s son and driver.

Report says Ahmed embarked on the journey shortly after the defection ceremony in Gusau on Tuesday.

“Ahmad was taking his son to a hospital in Kano.

“The lawmaker’s son and driver were kidnapped by the bandits,’’ Jafaru-Kaura said.
