Passing of Eze Bernard Enweremadu.. End Of A Glorious Era Of Royalty, Greatness – Ikpeazu

The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has described the passage unto eternity of His Eminence, Late Eze Dr. Sir Bernard Enweremadu, EzeUkwu of Ngwaukwu Community as the end of a glorious era of royalty and the triumph of the human spirit.

The Governor stated this today when he paid a condolence visit to the Palace of the departed Royal Father at his Palace at Ngwaukwu, Isiala Ngwa North LGA.

The Governor told the family of the deceased Traditional Ruler that he chose to come personally to the Palace and not just release a statement on the passage of the iconic Royal Father in view of the deep personal regards he has for the person of the Late Eze and the significance of his life and times.

Governor Ikpeazu described the Late Eze as an embodiment of the finest virtues of royalty and Traditional leadership, adding that with his passage, a powerful encyclopedia of the customs and traditions of Ngwaland and indeed the entire Igbo land.

In the words of the Governor, “The life and times of EzeUkwu will forever remain a case study in Royalty and the triumph of the human spirit. EzeUkwu was truly enigmatic. He was one of a kind and is simply irreplaceable. Our people and indeed our traditional institution will never find his likes again”.

The Governor recalled the many strides of the Late Royal Father in his 44 years on the throne as the Traditional Head of Ngwaland and the foremost Traditional Ruler in Abia State.

“Eze Enweremadu”, the Governor stated, “was, at the creation of the present Abia State, undoubtedly the foremost Traditional Ruler, having directly understudied great Royals like the Late Eze Onu Egwunwoke and Late Eze Dr. Sir Akanu Ibiam as their deputies in the old Imo and old Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers. His choice therefore as Chairman of the State Council of Traditional Rulers then was most appropriate”.

The Governor condoled with the family of the departed Royal Father and urged them to take deep pride in the iconic achievements of their father and ensure that his legacies are kept alive.
He assured them that his administration shall work with them to ensure that their father will be given a well deserved funeral and ended by saying that the place of Eze Dr. Sir Bernard Enweremadu in our history and our hearts is assured permanently.

Responding, the first son of the Late Royal Father, Rt. Hon. Prince Christopher Enweremadu thanked the Governor for his visit which he described as very reassuring. He told the Governor that they were privileged to have had a father like Eze Enweremadu who was not just a great man, a respected Traditional Ruler but also a loving and caring father who ensured that his children got the best in life.

Prince Enweremadu said that their late father who died at the age of 77 will always be remembered for his courage and strength.

He thanked the Governor for standing by their father even while he was sick and assured him that the family will keep the State Government posted fully on the burial plans.

The Governor who later signed the condolence register, was accompanied on the visit by Chief Okey Ahiwe.
