Uyo High School, Akwa Ibom, has been shut down following the threats and ultimatum given by some cultists to the principal of the school.

The Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Secondary Education Board (SSEB) Dr. Ekaette Ebong Okon, announced the immediate closure of the school.

The cultists on Thursday, June 24, dropped a note and some fetish items in front of the principal’s office.

They threatened to kill their principal, Mr. Micheal Etuk for arresting and detaining some of their members in the police station.

The principal was given a 24 hours ultimatum to release the arrested members or face their wrath which will be extermination of his household and himself.

Report says the fetish objects dropped at the principal’s office, include;  fresh pepper, palm oil drops, peeled cooked egg, palm fronds, red cloth, N10 note, among others.

Similar items and several inscriptions were also seen at the entrance to Senior Secondary 3 classes.

Report says trouble started when some students suspected to be cultists were recently suspended.

Also aggrieved are some Senior Secondary Two students who could not meet up with the school requirements to be promoted to the next class.

The two of students are alleged to be responsible for the chaos in the school.
