We Will Utilize All Measures To Save Nigeria From Collapsing – PDP Caucus | SEE DETAILS

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the Senate, has assured that it will utilize necessary measures to ensure that the country is saved from collapsing.

The caucus, through the senate Minority leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe, on Tuesday, May 4, said it has taken note of the constitutional breaches by the APC led government, and will ensure that the country is saved from collapsing after utilizing the necessary measures.

“the caucus has taken note and will continue to take note of the constitutional breaches that is happening at this time by the govt of APC and will at the appropriate time, utilize all constitutional methods and measures available after consultation with our colleagues to do the needful to save the country from collapse”.

Speaking on insecurity ravaging in the country, Abaribe said the APC government has broadened security challenges instead of resolving it, adding that President Muhammadu Buhari ‘is absent from duty’.

“the caucus has also taken note of the fact that the President is absent from duty. We have not seen our President, we have not heard from our President despite the killings that have been going on and that has turned Nigeria into a a killing field of unimaginable proportion.

“from 2015 to date, rather than resolve the security situation, the APC led Federal Government, has rather broadened the security challenges that we were.”

The caucus also frowned at the economic strategy of the government which it said has led to increase in inflation, devaluation of the Naira, and unemployment.

“caucus also expresses very strong reservations about the economic strategy of the government which has culminated into what is called quantitative easing but which an ordinary man knows as printing money.

“And we feel that this strategy has led to the very high inflation that we have today; devaluation of our Naira to height that we never expected and it has also concomitantly brought out unemployment and has also led  the government to contemplate as we see today to raise the price of fuel, electricity tariffs and all manner of charges on the helpless Nigerian public. “

The caucus continued to raise brow over the refusal of the President to suspend the Minister for Communications Dr Isa Pantami

“we as a caucus are opposed to the continued superintendence of the registration of National Identity and other security electronic acts of our government by someone whom the country has lost confidence in and ask the government to go ahead and summon the courage to do the needful that when people loose confidence in  a member of this government, that person should either quit or be fired”.

Abaribe posited that the lives of their members are under threat for speaking up on the true state of the country, adding that the All Progressives Congress(APC) led administration has suffocated democracy which Nigerians fought for.

“this descent into stifling democracy was not what we envisaged when Nigerians fought for democratic government and so we condemn this attempt at holding everybody down and trying to shut us up and make sure that nobody says anything because they think that by doing so, the problems of this country will disappear.”

The caucus regretted that insecurity problems has spread from the North/East, to the other parts of the country.

They suggested that government at all level, should take immediate step to set up proper security infrastructure .

The caucus also charged the president to take charge of his government and also refrain from continued borrowing. .
