The Minority Whip/member representing Arochukwu State Constituency in the Abia House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha has charged all Umu Aro both home and diaspora to always seek for good governance from leaders, saying that such will hold government accountable to the people.
Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha who stated this on the occasion of the 5th All Aro National Conference in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital on Saturday 14th March, 2020, hinted that since his election in the just concluded re-run on January 25th, 2020, as the member representing Arochukwu State Constituency in the Abia House of Assembly, he has been able to advance certain policies.
Speaking on the sub-theme Politics and Governance, he explained that one of the things he did immediately after the election, was to wade into the crises between Isu people and their neighboring Utuma/Ukwa clan of Cross River State over boundary issues, adding that through his quick intervention and collaborative efforts of major stakeholders, he was able to bring the attention of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Abia State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to Isu matter, secured and delivered huge relief materials estimated to worth more than N15 million to the internally displaced persons.
Other things he said his good governance has done, include sponsorship of a Bill on the establishment of Abians in Diaspora Commission, training of 20 Aro LGA youths on various skills Acquisition at their Centre in Umuahia, attracted the building of a Block of 4-class room for pupils which is nearing completion at Aggrey Primary School, Ibom, Arochukwu and many more.
At the event, Hon. Ukoha had a side discussion with some Executives of National Association of Arochukwu Students (NAAS), where the body seek for a collaboration on their medical mission as well as for support in their studies.
He called on Umu Aro to always rally round one another, so as to foster development, peace and unity.
During the occasion, among those who made presentations on various sub-theme, include Chairman of the event, Mazi Prof. Okoro Ijoma, Prof. Nnenna Nkanno, Mazi Kanu Ohuche, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa as well as the All Aro USA theme Re-Integrating Contributions which was delivered by Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha and the Ojojo cultural dance entertainment by Abakaliki branch, among other interesting things.
