The National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno has issued stern warning to governors who use thugs to prevent opposition from mounting their campaign material in their states, saying that security agencies will soon descend on them.
Mungono gave the warning on Thursday while anchoring the ministerial briefing at the state house on Thursday.
The NSA further warned that there will be no hiding place for the perpetrators, when the law enforcement agencies take step.
This is as there have been reports of state governors implementing policies that presents oppositions to carry out their campaign activities ahead of the 2023 elections.
However, Mungono condemned the action and described it as inferiority complex while cautioning the governors to restrain their thugs in what he describes as a ‘Cabo regime’.
He reminded them that the President Muhammadu Buhari had given clear directives that the 2023 election must be free, fair and credible.
He also promised that hoodlums who attack INEC offices will be fished out and dealt with decisively.
