How Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu Escaped Death in Ghastly Dangote Truck Crash

Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu escapes death in a ghastly night crash. Find out what happened and how he survived. Full story inside.

In what many have described as a divine act of providence, His Royal Majesty, Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu, the Chairman of the Ndigbo Progressive Traditional Rulers Forum, narrowly escaped death after a ghastly motor accident involving a Dangote truck late Saturday night.

The horrifying incident occurred around 10:00 PM along the Umuahia–Uzuakoli Road, close to the State CID Office, sending shockwaves across the traditional leadership circle in Abia State.

According to eyewitness accounts, a fully-loaded Dangote truck, reportedly speeding uncontrollably, veered off its lane and headed straight toward the royal father’s Toyota Prado SUV. With no traffic aides or escorts accompanying him at the time, the monarch—who was driving himself—had only a split second to make a life-saving decision.

In a swift and brave maneuver, Eze Ofoegbu veered off the road to avoid what could have been a fatal head-on collision. Unfortunately, his vehicle crashed into a deep roadside gutter near the Chidiebere Transport office, suffering severe frontal and undercarriage damage.

The monarch, who sustained chest injuries after hitting the steering wheel from the impact, was quickly rushed to a nearby medical facility where he is currently receiving treatment. Family sources and medical personnel have confirmed that he is in stable condition and responding well to treatment.

Our correspondent who spoke directly with Eze Ofoegbu on Sunday morning reported that the royal father, though shaken, is in good spirits and grateful to God for sparing his life.

The wrecked vehicle has since been towed away from the scene as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the Dangote truck’s loss of control are underway. The driver of the truck is said to be in police custody for questioning.

Eze Ofoegbu, a respected traditional leader and voice of unity among Igbo monarchs, is widely known for his peace advocacy and progressive views on regional development.

This close brush with death has sparked fresh calls for better regulation of heavy-duty vehicles, especially Dangote-owned trucks, which have been repeatedly involved in accidents across Nigeria.

Abians and concerned citizens across the Southeast have taken to social media to wish the royal father a quick recovery and to demand accountability from logistics companies whose drivers endanger lives on public roads.
