Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has been asked to shelve his alleged plan to dump the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Vanguard reports that the warning was given on Monday, March 8, by some groups within the APC which include the Oyo Solidarity Front (OSF), Oyo Progressives Resolute (OPR), and Oyo Sustainable Development Movement (OSDM).
APC groups have said that all attempts by Governor Seyi Makinde to join APC would be resisted.
Twitter In a statement by chairmen and secretaries of the groups, Johnson Olooto, Shina Alubankudi, Waheed Olanrewaju, Sunday Olododo, Ibrahim Arikewusola and Daud Arapaja, they said the governor has become a leper that should not be allowed to mix with normal, healthy people.
The statement read: “He has always claimed to be popular. He should stake his popularity in any of the other political parties in the country, not in APC where he has elevated his attack on the party leadership to a state policy.” The groups noted that Makinde betrayed all those who worked for him to emerge as governor leading to the collapse of the coalition.
It was reported that Fayose and Makinde have polarized the southwest PDP as a result of their differences. It was gathered that both party leaders have been supporting different factions as they have nominated different men and women for party positions in the forthcoming zonal congress of the party in the southwest.
