WORLD CUP: How NFF Caused Super Eagles Failure -Eguavoen | READ DETAILS

The former interim coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Austin Eguavoen has exonerated himself from the blame over the failure of the Super Eagles to qualify for the World Cup.

This is as he criticized the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for sacking Gernot Rohr, even as he noted that he was not in support of it.

Eguavoen who spoke on Monday on SuperSports said he complained about the timing Rohr was sacked.

“Yes, I complained about the timing as it was too close to the Africa Cup of Nations.”

Eguavoen was made Super Eagles interim coached in December 2021 after the sack of Rohr had replaced ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

Alluding to Eguavon stance, a former Nigeria International footballer, Victor Ikpeba, said, “Eguaveon was not in support of the decision to sack Rohr.”

Ikpeba who refused to blame Eguavoen for the country’s failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, put the blame on the NFF for the Eagles’ absence in Qatar.
