Wike has dared his political critics within the PDP with a declaration that’s already stirring controversy across party lines. Don’t miss the full story.
…. FCT Minister blasts critics, says he remains a proud PDP member and dares anyone to challenge his status in the party.
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has thrown a bold jab at his critics and internal party rivals who are calling for his suspension or outright expulsion from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking on Monday during a media parley in Abuja, Wike emphatically declared that no one within the PDP has the courage or legitimacy to expel him from the party, noting that his contributions far outweigh those of many of his detractors.
“I am still in PDP. I worked hard for the party. I have not seen anybody who will have the guts to tell me, ‘Wike, you are not a member of the party.’ Who is that? What is his contribution to the party that is more than me?” Wike stated firmly.
This controversial statement comes amidst growing tension within the PDP, as many members continue to question Wike’s dual political loyalty — especially following his prominent role in the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government after being appointed as Minister by President Bola Tinubu.
Critics within the PDP argue that Wike’s position in the APC-controlled cabinet amounts to anti-party activity and warrants disciplinary action. But the former Rivers State governor has remained defiant, arguing that his service to the party, particularly during challenging political battles, should not be so easily dismissed.
Wike’s confrontational stance reflects a broader power struggle within the PDP, especially as the 2027 general elections begin to take shape. Observers believe his influence, both in the South-South and at the national level, remains a major factor the PDP cannot afford to ignore — or confront without consequences.
His declaration is expected to further polarize opinions in the party, where some believe Wike has become a liability, while others insist he remains one of the strongest political forces within the PDP’s ranks.
With this new development, the fate of Wike’s membership and the future unity of the PDP now hang in the balance, as the party struggles to maintain discipline, loyalty, and strategic focus ahead of critical political battles ahead.
