Why We Didn’t Release Obiano, Moved Him To Abuja – EFCC | READ IN FULL
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has refuted speculations that former Anambra state governor, Willie Obiano has been released from their custody.
Obiano was arrested last night at the Muritala Mohammed International airport Lagos while trying to board an airplane en-route Texas, Houston, US after the swearing in ceremony of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
Responding to claims that Obiano was released, EFCC’s Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said the ex governor was on Friday morning, transferred to the Agency’s Abuja headquarter.
“He’s still with the commission. He was even transferred from Lagos to Abuja this morning,” Uwujaren said.
Obiano has been on EFCC’s watch-list since November 2021 for allegedly mismanaging N17bn Paris Club refund, security vote, inflated projects, among others
