The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has revealed that Jose Pesiro is yet to report to Cameroon because he is yet to sign any contract to take over the national team after the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
The former Eagles defender Augustine Eguavoen who was put in charge after former coach,Gernort Rohr was sacked currently serves as the NFF technical director.
The 56- year old has gone on to lead the Super Eagles to three straight triumphs at the 2021 AFCON, despite having barely two weeks to train the team.
Eguavoen’s stay was declared temporary after Peseiro was announced as the man at the team’s rein of affairs in the tournament.
However, the 61- year old who was expected to be in Cameroon as an observer before taking over for the Quatar World Cup qualifiers in March has still not travelled.
A member of the NFF executive member who pleaded anonymity with newsmen stated;
“He is not in Cameroon because we have not signed a contract with him yet.
If he had signed a contract, he would have definitely been in Cameroon as planned.
We are managing the public trust. So we have to look at what the people want and we also know what we want as well.
What we all agree on is that we want the team to do well, to play good football, to make Nigerians happy and to win trophies”.
