Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has been arraigned in court by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged corruption offences, with a video showing the moment he left the court after the arraignment now circulating online.

The case, which has attracted national attention, was adjourned to March 31, 2026, after the court proceedings.

According to information surrounding the case, the ICPC arraigned the former governor over alleged corruption-related offences linked to his time in office as Governor of Kaduna State.

Sources familiar with the case said the charges are connected to alleged financial transactions, contract awards, and handling of government funds during his administration, which the anti-corruption agency is investigating.

The arraignment marks a major legal development involving the former governor, who remains a prominent political figure in Nigeria.

Legal experts say arraignment does not mean conviction but is part of the legal process where the accused is formally presented before the court and the charges are read.

After the arraignment proceedings, the court adjourned the case to March 31, 2026, for further hearing.

Observers say the case may become one of the major political and legal cases in the country, considering El-Rufai’s political influence and national profile.

The video showing the former governor leaving the court premises after the arraignment has since generated reactions on social media and in political circles.

Political analysts say the development may have political implications ahead of future political alignments and elections, especially given El-Rufai’s role in national politics and policy discussions in recent years.

They also noted that the case will likely attract significant public attention as proceedings continue in court.

As the case continues, many Nigerians are expected to closely follow court proceedings and the outcome of the trial.
