The deputy governor of Abia State, Rt. Hon. Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has declared his intention to run for the 2023 Governorship position in the State.

 

Ude Oko Chukwu declared his ambition to run under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), on Thursday, March 31, 2022 during an interactive session with PDP leaders in his Ward in Nkporo, Ohafia LGA and Zonal leaders.

Addressing his people, he noted that his declaration came after prayers and consultations.

 

He stated that he has got experience of governance having served the state for 19 years in different elective positions.

Ude Oko Chukwu, a chartered accountant, has served as a member of the Abia House of Assembly, Speaker, Abia House of Assembly, and currently the deputy governor.

 

“I’ve had all the experiences. I know all the corners of this state. I also have been part of the 3 governor’s that have served this state” Oko Chukwu stated.

He added;

 

“Ndi Abia have invested so much in me and these experiences cannot be wasted. That is why I’ve decided to present myself. Let me come and give back to Abia state what I’ve gotten from Abia state.”

 

The governorship hopeful assured that Abian will not have excuses but transparency and accountability if elected.

“If I am given the opportunity to govern this state, I cannot have any excuse to give ndi Abia because I’ve been around; I know it all”.

 

“I am ready; I am prepared; I have all it takes to govern this state, If given the opportunity, I am going to serve this state with the fear of God.”

 

“You will have accountability, transparency at its best, good governance at it’s best. God helping us, together we will take Abia to a greater height’ he promised.

 

He noted that the electoral process is sacred and the fate of Abia state after 2023 depends on what the party and the people will do.

 

He called on his people and all Abians to throw their support on him.

 

Responding on behalf of the people, the ward chairmen and zonal woman leader lauded Oko Chukwu for availing himself to steer the state’s wheel of power. They expressed faith in him, assuring that they will support his ambition.

 

Personalities at the declaration were; members of the State Working Committee of the PDP, Ward and Local Government representatives, among others.

 

The deputy governor is expected to visit the PDP state secretariat tomorrow 1st April 2022.
