AFNEWS recalls that the Nigeria Senate has said it would not declare the seat of its Chief Whip vacant despite his conviction by a Federal High Court.
Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), had charged Kalu with N7.65billion fraud while in office as the Abia State governor between 1999 and 2007.
Kalu was, however, released from the Kuje correctional centre a few days ago following verdict by a seven-man panel of the Justices of the Supreme court which nullified judgment delivered by Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal high court.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has left its door open for the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki to join the party.
