Ace Nigerian and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen is billed to to lead the Super Eagles attack in their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone on Thursday, 9th June 2022.
Thursday’s clash will feature the African sports counterparts take on each other for a spot at Africa’s football biggest meet and greet in 2023.
The encounter is slated for the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
27-year-old Cyriel Dessers led the line in the team’s friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador, but will now make way for the Napoli striker against the Leone Stars.
According to camp sources, Osimhen put an outstanding display in all the team’s training session and is certain to get the nod ahead of the other strikers.
The Serie A hitman has been the team’s leading marksman since Odion Ighalo retired from international football after the 2019 AFCON finals in Egypt.
Umar Sadiq, who plays for La Liga club, Almeria, is the other striker in the team.
The Super Eagles will have their final training session ahead of the game at the practise pitch of the Moshood Abiola Stadium on Wednesday evening.
