Chief Victor Ikeji Ph.D marks Governor Otti’s 2-year anniversary with a bold tribute that celebrates transformation and slams the politics of the past. Read more!

In a stirring and emotionally charged tribute to commemorate the second anniversary of Dr. Alex Chioma Otti’s tenure as Governor of Abia State, Hon. High Chief Victor Ikeji, Ph.D., former Mayor of Umuahia North, has praised the governor’s leadership style while indirectly blasting the failures of previous administrations.

Dr. Otti, who took office in May 2023 after a groundbreaking electoral victory, has now completed two years in the saddle. In a lengthy statement released by Chief Ikeji and addressed to the Governor, he described the anniversary as “a testament to visionary leadership, courageous governance, and renewed public confidence in a man whose name has become synonymous with discipline, dignity, and development.”

According to Ikeji, the Governor’s emergence marked more than just a political triumph. “It was the resurrection of a dream long deferred,” he said, likening Otti to the biblical Joshua who led his people into the Promised Land.

“For decades, Abians had wandered in the wilderness of broken promises,” Ikeji stated, “but under your leadership, the state has crossed into a new era of infrastructure renewal, healthcare reform, education transformation, civil service reinvigoration, and fiscal discipline.”

The former Mayor highlighted his personal experience serving under Otti as a defining moment in his political journey. “You made governance serious business, not a theatre of nepotism,” Ikeji declared. “You allowed me to witness governance from the mountaintop of accountability and from the valley of people’s expectations.”

Ikeji commended Governor Otti for instilling a culture of integrity, zero tolerance for mediocrity, and an unshakable commitment to results. “You taught us that politics can be clean, leadership can be transparent, and service can be sacrificial,” he added.

He further emphasized the uniqueness of Otti’s leadership, asserting that his tenure is already being written into the annals of Abia’s history. “You govern with the urgency of one who knows time is limited and with the compassion of one who understands that every day without leadership is a day stolen from the future,” Ikeji said.

While his tone remained reverent throughout, the tribute was laced with veiled criticism of the old order, which he described as “transactional politics and institutional decay.”

As Dr. Otti begins his third year in office, Chief Ikeji concluded with prayers for strength and wisdom, drawing parallels with global icons like Nelson Mandela and Lee Kuan Yew. “Abia is rising again because you chose to lead with light instead of shadows,” he declared.

The message has since sparked reactions across political and civic circles in Abia, with many interpreting it as a bold endorsement of Otti’s leadership trajectory and a subtle indictment of those who previously held power in the state.
