Manchester United lower asking price for Alejandro Garnacho and line up new international goalkeeper as Andre Onana replacement – Paper Round

In an effort to get him off their books, Manchester United are prepared to listen to offers as low as £40 million for Alejandro Garnacho. Elsewhere, Andre Onana could lose his status as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper next season, with Porto’s shot-stopper Diogo Costa lined up as his replacement. And Arsenal are exploring alternatives should they fail to land Benjamin Sesko.

Manchester United are set to lower their asking price for Alejandro Garnacho in an effort to sell the forward.
The Mirror reports the club are determined to offload the Argentina international, who was spotted in an Aston Villa shirt with team-mate Marcus Rashford’s name on the back.
United are prepared to listen to offers lower than their initial £60 million valuation.
The article reads: “Alejandro Garnacho’s controversial decision to wear an Aston Villa shirt bearing Marcus Rashford’s name has reinforced Manchester United’s desire to sell him.
“While United have not commented publicly on Garnacho’s contentious move, which saw him post on social media a picture of him in the shirt, sources say the stunt has only served to redouble the club’s efforts to offload the winger.
“United want around £60m for Garnacho, but there is an acceptance that the public nature of his fall-out with Amorim, coupled with the knowledge that other clubs know the Old Trafford hierarchy want rid of him, means it is unlikely that valuation will be met.
“A more realistic fee for United to accept would be around £40m, which would count as pure profit against the backdrop of profit and sustainability rules, given his status as an academy graduate, having joined the club’s youth system from Atletico Madrid in 2020 as a 15-year-old.”

Red Devils monitoring Porto goalkeeper Costa

Manchester United are monitoring Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa and could make their move this summer.
A report in the Mirror suggests The Red Devils are keen to bring in a new goalkeeper following another inconsistent season from Andre Onana.
“Recent developments suggest that his team are also on the hunt for a new goalkeeper, which boosts United’s chances of securing him.
“Amorim’s hunt for a new No. 1 could conclude this summer if a deal for Porto’s Costa is agreed upon. A Bola reports that Costa will depart the Portuguese giants this summer in pursuit of a ‘new challenge.’
“It’s been hinted that he ‘dreams’ of playing in England, and both United – as well as rivals Manchester City – are keen on his services. Costa has a £64m release clause in his contract.”

Arsenal could move on from Sesko

The Mail reports that RB Leipzig are “driving a hard bargain” over Benjamin Sesko, which could force Arsenal to explore alternative options.
The Gunners’ pursuit of a new striker has been well documented, with Viktor Gyokeres also strongly linked with a move to the Emirates.
However, sporting director Andrea Berta is prepared to move in a different direction if deals for either player fail to materialise.
The article reads: “Both Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig and Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres are on Arsenal’s radar, but it’s understood that Sesko is the priority.
“Sources close to the club suggest that Sporting Lisbon’s keenness to offload Gyokeres has become clearer by the day and arguably weakened their hand.
“Internally, there was already reservations over the 27-year-old because Portugal’s Primeira Liga is a totally different proposition to the Premier League, even though he scored 39 league goals last season.
“Berta is said to have other striker options in mind, too. If a deal for Sesko or Gyokeres was not to materialise, the prospect of a surprise name entering the frame is a possibility.
“Arsenal and Berta are adopting the softly-softly approach so as not to be forced to pay over the odds. It contrasts with his predecessor Edu, who would zero in on a single target.
“Sources say RB Leipzig are driving a hard bargain over Sesko because they know how desperate the Gunners are for a striker and the limited availability of world-class frontmen in football today. And this explains the delay.”

Man Utd & Everton interested in Ndidi

Manchester United and Everton have shown an interest in signing Leicester midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.
Ndidi only signed a new contract with The Foxes last summer but could now leave the club for just £9m following their relegation to the Championship.
“Ndidi, 28, is thought to be available for a cut-price fee this summer after Leicester were relegated back to the Championship,” states The Sun.
“According to talkSPORT, Ndidi has a £9m release clause in his contract as a result of the Foxes’ relegation.
“They claim that both Manchester United and Everton have shown interest in the Nigerian because of the low fee.
“Both clubs were linked with Ndidi last summer when the defensive midfielder was available as a free agent, before he penned a three-year deal at the King Power.
“But that deal could now be cut short amid the temptation of a return to the Premier League.”
