United Abia Artists and Patriots (UAAP) condemns Kano Court Ruling

The United Abia Artists and Patriots (UAAP) condemns the Thursday 18th May 2023 ruling by a Federal High Court in Kano that purportedly nullified the candidature of Dr. Alex Otti and all the candidates of the Labour Party in Abia and Kano States.

The court ruled that the Labour Party’s failure to submit its membership register to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) within 30 days of its primaries renders the process invalid.

In a swift reaction to the ruling, the Abia Governor Elect, Dr Otti dismissed the suit as inconsequential, and called for calm among the people of the state while stressing that his major preoccupation was his forthcoming inauguration on May 29 which is going on as scheduled.

In a press release that was made available to ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER and signed by the leader of UAAP Amb. Dr. Osita Offor -De Ultimate Commander and Secretary/Legal Adviser Chuks Akamadu Esq., the group believes that the Kano State ruling is a miscarriage of justice and unnecessary distraction to the transitional process in Abia State. They insisted that Otti won the 2023 governorship election in Abia State by a landslide, and the people of Abia have spoken.
