The Umuasua Autonomous Community in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State is beaming with pride as one of its own, Christy Onyenaturuchi Ucheibe, helped Nigeria’s Super Falcons secure a historic victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The Umuasua Progressive Association (UPA) Inc., in a heartfelt congratulatory message, celebrated Ucheibe’s exceptional performance and contribution to the team’s 3-2 triumph over host nation Morocco, which crowned Nigeria the champions of Africa once again.

Christy Ucheibe: The Pride of Umuasua

The letter, jointly signed by the President and Secretary-General of UPA, described Christy as:

“A true daughter of Umuasua, whose talent, discipline, and dedication continue to shine on the world stage.”

They highlighted that her brilliance and resilience on the pitch not only lifted Nigeria to glory but also brought immense joy to the people of Umuasua and the entire Isuikwuato LGA.

The community expressed unwavering support and prayers for the midfielder, pledging to stand behind her as she continues to excel in her professional football career.

In recognition of her giant strides in sports, UPA announced that:

“Plans are already underway to honour Christy Ucheibe in December 2025 with a grand homecoming celebration.”

The event will serve as a formal recognition of her outstanding contribution to Nigerian football and a symbol of inspiration to young athletes from Umuasua and across Abia State.

Further details of the celebration, expected to draw sports enthusiasts, community leaders, and government officials, will be communicated to the star athlete in due course.

A Community United in Pride

The victory at WAFCON 2024 and the recognition of Christy Ucheibe reflects the deep connection between local communities and national achievement. For Umuasua, this is not just a football triumph—it is a moment of cultural pride and collective joy.

As Nigeria continues to celebrate the Super Falcons’ dominance in African football, Umuasua is preparing to roll out the drums to welcome their star daughter back home.
