Strong words from Chief Bourdex slam what he calls empty politics in Abia North. Read how he dismantles Kalu’s claims and ignites calls for true leadership.
Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, widely known as “Ugo Ena” Nde Abiriba, has issued a scathing political rebuke—responding to recent narratives that celebrate Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s supposed largesse in Ohafia.
In a powerful statement titled “When the Market No Longer Buys Lies,” Bourdex lambasted what he described as “hollow gifts and half-truths wrapped in headlines.” His message targeted claims that credit Kalu with projects like new roads and schools, asking pointedly, “Where were these gifts when darkness swallowed our homes?” and “Where was compassion during erosion that buried entire gardens?”
Labeling such politically motivated project announcements as “a dying masquerade banging the drum loudest,” Bourdex painted a vivid image of political theater over substance. He warned that Abia North is “yawning,” no longer willing to clap for charlatans and preferring, instead, “light—not slogans,” and real leadership—not empty theatrics.
Bourdex’s metaphor of a marketplace trading in truths rather than tomatoes was clear: Abia North’s constituents have awakened to deceptive politics and want accountability. “The torch is not for sale… When a people awaken, even the most seasoned deceiver trembles,” he stated.
His critiques have reignited the debate over the 2027 Senate seat, particularly whether Ohafia deserves its turn to produce the next senator and whether Kalu’s era of political supremacy should end.

WHEN THE MARKET NO LONGER BUYS LIES
There is a time to rise, and a time to pass the torch —
Abia North has reached that moment.
But lo, the merchants of deception return to the stall,
Bearing hollow gifts and half-truths wrapped in headlines.
Ohafia wins big, they shout —
Suddenly, new roads and schools are raining from their tongues. But where were these gifts when darkness swallowed our homes?
Where was their compassion in five long years of blackout?Where were they when erosion carved graves where gardens once bloomed?
They forget — we are not fools.
We know that a dying masquerade beats its drum the loudest.
We see the clown behind the costume,
Still juggling illusions for applause.
Let it be known:
There is a marketplace in our land,
Where men trade not tomatoes, but truths.
Where loyalty is no longer to the people,
But to the godfathers behind the curtain.
This market has sold us decay in branded bags.
They call it governance,
But it is theatre —
Where actors switch roles,
Where yesterday’s jailer now campaigns as liberator.
Yet even the most enchanted audience must one day yawn.
And Abia North is yawning.
We hunger no more for rice.
We are done clapping for charlatans.
We want light — not slogans. We want leaders — not looters in agbadas.
We want truth — not theatrics.
The torch is not for sale.
And this market of souls will soon fall silent.
Because when a people awaken,
Even the most seasoned deceiver trembles.
We are awake now.
And no amount of “projects” scribbled in sand
Can rewrite the history you denied us.
Ohafia will speak.
Abia North will rise.
And the true sons of the land shall lead again.
