The Special Advisers to The Governor of Abia State under the aegis of OVI Body of advisers yesterday the 19th day of January honoured the Deputy Governor of Abia state for his humility in service and rare supportive dispositions which has engendered lasting peace in the state.
Speaking during his opening speech of the Interactive Session With The Governor, the Chairman of the body, Mr. Collins Nwakanma stated that the essence of the recognition session, which is one of the programs in the interactive session is to fish out Abians who are making the state proud in their chosen fields and also investing heavily in the state and honour them.
Responding after receiving the Award Sir Ude Oko Chukwu thanked the group for organizing such a suave and well thought out program and pledged to continue in his unfettered support to his boss Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.
Speaking to newsmen after presenting the Award to the Deputy Governor, the secretary of the Body of Advisers and immediate past commissioner for Boundary And Conflict Resolution Chief Imo Mascot Obike stated thus:
“The Award to the deputy Governor was our little way of encouraging him to be steadfast in an era where humility and loyalty is fast depleting and becoming a very rare virtue”.
“Those of us who know him from a closer distance can attest to his deep love for the state and penchant to always put Abia first in all he does.”
“He is a shinning example of true leadership founded on love, party loyalty and people-centrism, a rare raw material and outstanding Abian”.
Others honoured include the Hon. Commissioner For Finance, Dr. Aham Uko, A renowned philanthropist and Security expert Amb. Chief Dr. Nzeribe Okegbue, The Director General of the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia state Mr Anyaso Anyaso, among others.
High point of the event was a visit to the motherless babies home Ahiaeke as well as the school of the blind Afaraukwu.
