UCL: Thomas Tuchel Reveals Who Caused Chelsea’s Abysmal Defeat

In the wake of an abysmal Champions League defeat, Chelsea’s boss, Thomas Tuchel has revealed who caused his side’s loss.

The Blues were left on the rocks by Carlo Ancelotti’s boys in a 3-1 showdown at their Stamford Bridge home on Wednesday night.

The massacre which was led by Real Madrid’s ace, Karim Benzema with a hair raising hat trick saw reigning champions, Chelsea scrambling for breath and a grip of some sort.

Three header goals from the French International clearly translated to a complete understanding of the assignment by the 13-time Champions League title holders who made a replay of their 3-1 ousting of Messi’s side, PSG.

Taking the fall, the German coach disclosed it was undebatably his mistakes that led to the complete edge out of his team.

According to the 48-year-old, the tactical ”mistake” of allowing defender Andreas Christensen to be exposed by Real Madrid’s hitman, Vinicius Junior served as the beginning of the inevitable doom for his team.

Brazilian ace, Vinicius Junior took up the mandate of ensuring Chelsea’s efforts to stay afloat in the left flank ended in futility.

A poor run by Christensen and N’Golo Kante at half time only meant for problems for an already discomfited Chelsea.

A mix-up between Edouard Mendy and Antonio Rudiger shortly after the restart then led to Benzema’s third goal of the night.

Reacting to questions in a post-match interview, the Premier League side caretaker insisted it was his mistake;

“Yeah, it’s my mistake.
“We changed the formation and wanted to turn things around because I think personally there was enough where we could hurt them.”.

Regarding the chances of a comeback in the April 12 second leg-tie, he said;

”We can’t demand ourselves to turn it around if this is our performance. How many clubs won with what we need? Perhaps it is only realistic to answer like this.
If we keep playing like this we will lose at Southampton on Saturday and then we will get hammered at Bernabeu.”
