A 33-year-old lecturer with the University of Benin (UNIBEN), has been shot sead by unknown gunmen in Edo state.

Maxwell Eseosa Aimuan, a lecturer in the department of Public Administration, UNIBEN, was shot dead on Saturday, June 12, while he was driving into his compound in Isihor, Benin City.

He was rushed to the hospital after he was reportedly shot severally by the gunmen. Unfortunately, he was confirmed dead.

According to report, Aimuan parted with his friends after an evening hangout around the Ugbowo area before he was shot dead.

The public relations officer, UNIBEN,  Benedicta Ehanire, who confirmed the incident described the late lecturer as hardworking and dedicated university staff.

He called on security operatives to unravel those behind the attack.
