The traditional wedding of Fortune Nwangwa and Gbolu Akanni at Melchizedek Villa, Obingwa, was a star-studded affair attended by prominent Nigerians, religious leaders, and dignitaries, including Chief Charles Nwangwa and Brother Gbile Akanni, parents of the couple. The couple, based abroad, joined the ceremony virtually as family and friends celebrated love, culture, and faith.

The ancient traditions of Igbo culture blended with Christian values on Friday, January 31, 2025, as Fortune Nkemjika Nwangwa, daughter of Chief Lawrence Charles Nwangwa (Justice of the Peace) and Chief Mrs. Martha Nkechi Nwangwa JP, traditionally tied the knot with Gbolu Akanni, son of renowned Nigerian preacher Brother Gbile Akanni. The grand event, held at the opulent Melchizedek Villa, the country home of Chief Nwangwa in Umuomei, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, was a celebration of love, heritage, and faith.

The traditional marriage ceremony was attended by distinguished personalities from across Nigeria, including former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, and ex-PENCOM Director, Dr. Anyim Nyerere, among other influential leaders. The presence of over 20 bishops and clergymen, alongside a delegation of more than 100 people, who accompanied Brother Gbile Akanni, underscored the spiritual significance of the occasion.
During his speech, Dr. Anyim Nyerere emphasized the importance of unity and understanding in marriage, urging the couple to prioritize communication and resolve their issues internally. He cautioned against unnecessary third-party interference, noting that external influences often contribute to marital challenges and breakups.
Although Fortune and Gbolu could not physically attend the event as they are based abroad, they fully participated in the proceedings via Zoom, sharing heartfelt moments with family, friends, and well-wishers.
The wedding not only strengthened the bond between two illustrious families but also showcased a harmonious blend of Igbo and Yoruba traditions, further reinforcing Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage. As the celebrations concluded, guests commended the hosts for organizing a memorable occasion that will be talked about for years to come.
