Thomas Frank: Tottenham Hotspur replace Ange Postecoglou with Brentford boss on three-year deal

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Thomas Frank will succeed Ange Postecoglou as their new manager ahead of the start of the 2025/2026 Premier League season. Frank has enjoyed several successful seasons with Brentford, helping the west London club establish themselves in the Premier League. Postecoglou was sacked earlier this month despite winning the UEFA Europa League.

Thomas Frank has succeeded Ange Postecoglou as manager of Tottenham Hotspur.
Postecoglou and Spurs parted company on June 6 despite the club’s 1-0 triumph over Manchester United in the final of the UEFA Europa League.
Tottenham said: “In Thomas we are appointing one of the most progressive and innovative head coaches within the game. He has a proven track record in player and squad development, and we look forward to him leading the team as we prepare for the season ahead.”

The news means Frank will leave Brentford after almost seven years in charge. He has signed a contract that runs until 2028.
During that time, he guided The Bees out of the Championship and helped cement their place in the Premier League.
Frank will be joined at Tottenham from Brentford by Justin Cochrane (first team assistant coach), Chris Haslam (head of performance and first team assistant coach) and Joe Newton (first team coach analyst).
Meanwhile, Andreas Georgson (first team assistant coach) has arrived from Manchester United.
Frank’s team finished 10th in the English top flight last season, seven places and 18 points ahead of their London rivals.
Indeed, since guiding Brentford to promotion in 2021, Frank has overseen finishes of 13th, 9th, 16th and 10th in four top-flight campaigns.
The 51-year-old has also previously managed Danish club Brondby as well as a number of the Denmark national team’s youth sides.
His teams have become known for their exciting style of play and shrewd business in the transfer market.
In recent years, Brentford have bought the likes of Ivan Toney, Ollie Watkins and David Raya at low prices before selling them on for significant fees.
Postecoglou’s victory in the Europa League final means Spurs have qualified for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
However, Frank will have a lot to work on domestically.
Tottenham recorded their lowest-ever Premier League points tally last term, raking together 38 points as they finished one place above the relegation zone.
The Dane is Spurs’ fourth permanent manager since June 2021, and their fifth in the six years since the departure of Mauricio Pochettino, who left in 2019.
Brentford are yet to announce which manager will succeed Frank ahead of the new season.
