WIfe of Taraba based Businessman Chief Uche Obi who was kidnapped in Jalingo, Mrs Chika Obi has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu to help secure her husband release or make his whereabout known.

Mrs Chika Obi speaking with newsmen at her Jalingo residence said some police officers from Abuja working for a former Acting Governor, Sani Abubakar Danlandi abducted her husband on Sunday 2nd of February at about 1am and his whereabout has remained unknown.

” Am worried that my husband was kidnapped by the police because the number left at our gate to call by those who kidnapped him was picked by police officer, since then the number has been switched off”

The wife of the business mogul who bursted into tears while responding to question said “the children are already asking for their father and I cannot explain his whereabout, infact they don’t sleep at night because their father has been missing”

A brother to Uche Obi, Chris said a petition by a former Acting Governor Sani Abubakar Danlandi to the police showed he was behind Uche Obi disappearance.

“My brother is a businessman in Taraba State since over 40 years and he has good records as a community leader, title holder and clean businessman, if the former Governor has any issue with Uche Obi let him go to court or tell the police to make his whereabout known.

“We have it on good authority that Sani Abubakar Danlandi is behind the disappearance of my brother. They both had of some business deals which lead to a court case but Sani Abubakar Danladi is using his political powers to deal with my brother. We don’t want him dead, those who kidnapped my brother are working for him and the Inspector General should help us fish them out.

Police Swiftly React

As efforts to get the former acting governor on the allegations been futile the state police command had swiftly reacted saying that its investigating the matter.

In a statement the police spokesman in the state DSP David Misal, the command said, ” the attention of the Taraba State Police Command has been drawn to the report published online, “millionaire Business man kidnapped in Taraba”.

“The publication which is currently trending in various online platforms and social media handles, has left residents of Taraba State in a state of confusion, as to what is the true situation of the matter, which the Command finds it imperative, to clear the air in regards to the situation on ground and set the records straight.

“On 3/02/2020, one Mrs. Chika Obi been the wife to Mr. Uche Obi, reported at Jalingo Division that; on the same date at about 0030hrs her husband received a phone call from a known person to the family, hence the husband dressed up and walked out of the house on foot, having informed her of where he was going. However, according to her since then, she was unable to establish a contact with him as his phone up till now is switched off.

“This report in line with the available facts at the police disposal is viewed by the Police as a clear case of ‘a missing person’ since there was no contact made by any person demanding for a ransom and equally no evidence or record of any attack on his residence or his person to establish any case of kidnapping.

“On this note, the Police maintain that, the Command is investigating a case of ‘a missing person’ until the contrary is proven.

“The Commissioner of Police appeals to the general public to remain calm as the Command has so far embarked on diligent investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the person being rumoured to have been kidnapped,” it stated.
