Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi named Baller of the Week after standout Premier League performance

Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi is crowned Baller of the Week for his brilliant Premier League display, beating off strong competition from other Nigerian stars.

The weekend was a spectacular showcase for Nigerian football talent across Europe’s top leagues, but one player stood above the rest: Alex Iwobi.

The Super Eagles playmaker has been crowned this week’s Naija Stars Abroad’s ‘Baller of the Week’ for his standout performance in Fulham’s commanding 3-1 victory over Brentford.

Iwobi was the main man at Craven Cottage, delivering a match-winning display with a goal and an assist that earned him the Man of the Match award.

The creative midfielder’s dynamic performance was the key to Fulham’s comeback, as they overturned an early deficit to secure a crucial win.

While Iwobi soared, it was a mixed bag for other Nigerian stars. Toluwase Arokodare faced disappointment as Wolves suffered their fifth consecutive defeat, a worrying start to his new chapter in England.

Similarly, Christantus Uche watched from the bench as his Crystal Palace side piled pressure on West Ham.

Elsewhere, the weekend was filled with highlights for the Nigerian contingent. In Scotland, Kelechi Iheanacho continued his excellent start at Celtic, contributing an assist in a dominant 4-0 cup win.

Veteran striker Paul Onuachu proved his value once again, scoring a fantastic equaliser for Trabzonspor to save his side from defeat and take his tally to three goals for the season in Turkey.

Fellow midfielder Olawoyin Ibrahim also found the net for Rizespor, scoring his first league goal of the campaign.

The Italian Serie A brought positive news with the return of Africa’s Player of the Year Ademola Lookman to action for Atalanta after a lengthy absence.

Meanwhile, Gift Orban made a strong statement for Hellas Verona, scoring his first-ever goal for the club against giants Juventus in a thrilling encounter in the Serie A.

In France, Terem Moffi’s goal was not enough to save Nice from a heavy defeat, and Moses Simon also ended on the losing side with Paris FC, while Asisat Oshoala and Esther Okoronkwo also found the net in Canada and Saudi Arabia.

Despite the varied fortunes, Iwobi’s influential display set him apart, making him the undisputed Baller of the Week.
