Pastor Tunde Bakare delivers a shocking state of the nation address, warning that Tinubu’s government is steering Nigeria into chaos and calling for a moral revolution. Full details inside!
In what has now become one of the boldest and most scathing criticisms of Nigeria’s current leadership, fiery preacher and respected political voice, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has launched a direct attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing him of arrogance, poor leadership, and overseeing a country descending rapidly into what he described as a “mafia state.”
The Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, in his State of the Nation Address delivered during Sunday service in Lagos, did not mince words as he took aim at the Tinubu administration’s style of governance and its failure to chart a clear direction for Nigeria.
According to Pastor Bakare, President Tinubu must “stop playing God” and abandon what he termed a “dangerous political messiah complex” that is currently alienating the people and pushing Nigeria toward the brink.
“The current administration is steering the polity adrift. It is time for this government to embrace humility,” Bakare declared before a visibly stunned congregation.
He emphasized that his concern was not born out of bitterness or political rivalry, but a sincere desire to see Nigeria progress. “I do not want this government to fail, but I must speak truth to power. The president must stop playing God,” he said firmly.
Bakare, a former presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), warned that the executive and legislative arms of government are now the two main contenders in what he called ‘institutional immorality’, stating that their actions resemble those of criminal syndicates.
“It is clear that our so-called leaders are determined to turn Nigeria into a mafia state,” he lamented. “What we are witnessing today is no longer governance, but state capture by a political cabal obsessed with power and self-preservation.”
In a striking call for reform, the outspoken cleric proposed a psychiatric evaluation for all aspiring public office holders in Nigeria. According to him, the moral and psychological state of the nation’s leaders has deteriorated to such a repugnant level that citizens must “declare a state of emergency on governance.”
Bakare argued that Nigeria’s constitutional and institutional frameworks are not the only problems. The real crisis, he said, lies in the character and intentions of those who occupy positions of authority.
“The quality of leadership in Nigeria has become so nauseating that it’s time we start asking: who are these people leading us? Do they even have the mental and emotional stability to lead a classroom, let alone a nation of over 200 million?”
While Bakare did not mention specific incidents of governance failure, political observers say his statement aligns with growing dissatisfaction over economic hardship, corruption, nepotism, and rising insecurity under Tinubu’s leadership.
Critics argue that this public rebuke from a once-perceived ally within Tinubu’s political circles signals a deeper crisis of legitimacy for the administration. The timing is also significant, as Nigeria’s economy continues to struggle under the weight of inflation, subsidy removal backlash, and controversial appointments.
Bakare’s sermon is already sparking waves across both the political and religious spheres, with some applauding his courage while others accuse him of fanning the flames of division.
However, to his supporters, the preacher is simply speaking the truth many Nigerians are afraid to say. With the 2027 elections still far ahead, political watchers are wondering whether Bakare’s latest move is setting the stage for a fresh political realignment—or a full-blown confrontation with Nigeria’s ruling elite.
As Nigeria reels from one crisis to another, one thing is clear: Pastor Tunde Bakare has declared war—not with weapons, but with words. And the Tinubu presidency is firmly in his sights.
