Sort Out Your Problem With Twitter, Leave Nigeria Out Of It – Soyinka Mocks Buhari

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has hit out at President Muhammadu Buhari, over his decision to ban Twitter in Nigeria.

According to Soyinka, it is a “petulant gesture” that is “unbecoming of a democratically elected president”.

He also advised Buhari that if he has a problem with Twitter, “he is advised to sort it out between them personally, the way Donald Trump did.”

Soyinka, however, noted that a Twitter ban in the country is a “technical issue Nigerians should be able to work their way around”.

He also added that “the field of expression remains wide open, free of any dictatorial spasms”.

The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, announced the ban on Friday, claiming Nigerians were using Twitter to perpetuate activities inimical to the corporate existence of Nigeria.
