* Solicits prayers for quick end to covid -19
Senator Mao Ohuabunwa has felicitated Muslims all over the world especially in Nigeria on this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration which marks the breaking of fast and the end of the Holy month of Ramadan.
The former Speaker ECOWAS Parliament in his goodwill message to the Muslim community, tasked Muslims to live in peace with their neighbours according to the tenets of Islam.
He urged the Muslim faithful to use this year’s celebration to reflect on the mercies and love of God, and to continue to uphold the great virtues of peace, love and unity which God cherishes.
Senator Ohuabunwa also urged Muslims to use the celebration to show love to their neighbours especially the vulnerable groups who find it difficult to feed as a result of the covid -19 lockdown in many states.
Ohuabunwa whose birthday coincided with this year’s Eid-el-Fitr, challenged Muslims to use this season to seek divine intervention on the deadly coronavirus pandemic ravaging humanity.
He noted that the world is in dire need of God’s intervention for a solution to the pandemic as there is yet no known cure or vaccine for the scourge.
Ohuabunwa, however, urged Muslims not to be carried away by the fanfare that usually characterises festivities but ensure strict observation of the necessary protocols against the spread of covid -19 including social distancing , personal hygiene as well as wearing of nose mask.
He noted that both this year’s Easter and
Eid-el-Fitr celebrations which came at a time when the world is battling with covid -19 is an indication that God has the ultimate say in the affairs of men.
Senator Ohuabunwa wished Muslims particularly those in Abia North senatorial district a joyous celebration, while urging them to remain indoors as they mark this year’s sallah.
